Affogato History

When talking coffee, few recipes are more simple or delectable as the classic Italain affogato. Originally made famous in the ’90s, this recipe was named for the Italian word for “drowned” coming from the action of drowning the ice cream in two shots of espresso. Traditionally, when creating an affogato the scoops of ice cream are vanilla, but if you’re feeling fancy, we’ve also been known to experiment with a variety of blue bell ice creams, chocolate chip cookie dough and rocky road is a personal favorite or frankly, whatever our heart desires!
