The Peppermint Mocha Latte – oh yes! We are going there today. This is the day for the coffee drink that screams “CHRISTMAS IS HERE!” Our seasonal favorite: Peppermint Mocha Latte. Mmmm.

The cool, sweet flavor of candy canes mixed with rich chocolate, soothing warm milk, and silky coffee that simply glides over the tongue. It practically begs you to put on your warm sweater and curl up on the couch with your favorite holiday movie.

Did you know it’s easy to make at home? With ingredients you probably have on hand? It’s true. And for the price of one at your local big-time coffee store, you can make more than one at home and avoid the lines! Win-win.

The Recipe

1 Servings
5 - 10 Minutes
350 Calories


½ cup crushed candy canes, divided
3 tbsp chocolate syrup (more or less)
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup of coffee – or two shots of espresso
1/2 cup of milk (microwave lightly)

Optional Ingredients

Whipped cream
Chocolate syrup
Crushed candy cane



Put 3 medium size candy canes in a zipper bag and crush them with a mallet.


Put the crushed candy canes on a plate that is a little larger than the rim of your mug.


Moisten the rim of the cup with water then dip the rim into the crushed canes.


Line the inside of the mug with chocolate syrup. You can be as light- or heavy-handed as your heart desires.


Put cocoa powder, sugar and 1T crushed canes into the mug.


Add coffee and milk. Mix well.


Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and more crushed candy canes.
